Everybody! To become a host, there is no type of profile: no need to be a great master Chef or live in a fancy place… All you need is the passion for receiving and sharing. This is why with Homemeal we can meet people from every backgrounds, nobody is alike and it is for the best!
On our homepage just click at the top on “Become a host” and follow the steps required to create a publication, this will only take a few minutes!
Once you signed-in, click on the tab “Host” then “Publish an announce”. Add description, photos and let yourself be guided through the site! At the end of the creation of your meal, you will be able to choose to either directly publish your meal, or to keep it as a draft waiting to be published. Once confirmed, your meal will be automatically published.
When you create a publication, you can find those under the tab “My publications”. If you change your mind about one of your publication and wish to delete it, just simply click on “Delete”.
As a host, your responsibilities are the same than when you receive friends or family over: you must be careful about the quality of the meal and the needs of your guests.
You don’t have to give a precise description of your meal if you don’t know yet what you are going to serve. Some hosts even offer on-demand meals! When you create a meal, the most important is to give it a title, choose a theme (wine tasting, trip to Japan…) and add some pictures of what you think you will serve or the place where you will receive people. You can decide later for the exact composition of your meal, by exchanging with your guests for example.
Obviously when you sign-in you can take the time to discover what our other hosts are offering and think about what you want to do!
You can have many ideas without having figured out what you will prepare.
At first, you have to take in account the price of the products that you will use to prepare your meal, including what you will eat yourself. Divide this amount by number of people participating to your meal and you will obtain your base price. You can also include to that the price to which you value your time and contribution to the service you are providing. Keep in mind that if the price is too high it will be hard for you to have guests.
Be sure that the price you ask stays logic with the service you are offering
And if you have no idea of the price to put, just compare with similar offers on our website or contact us directly so we can help you with that issue.
Of course! You open your table but you stay the master of your own house: when you publish a meal, you can add additional information in order to indicate for example if smoking is ok or not, or if pets are allowed.
Keep in mind to stay open and flexible: the people that you might receive will come from all around the world and do not necessarily obey to the same codes than you do.
Invite only the number of people you feel comfortable receiving. If you have room for 8 people but you can only cook for 4, then only put 4 as a maximum number of guests possible. Your service will have more value if you can take the time to enjoy the moment with every guest, and share a true Homemeal time. That being said, if the size of your apartment does not fit with what you want to organise, don’t hesitate to prepare a picnic somewhere outside!
