Here are the frequently asked question about the hosting activity.
When one of our Homemeal user is seduced by your publication, he or she can either send you a private message in order to know more about your meal or directly ask for a reservation. Either way, you will receive a notification on your mailbox and you are the one handling your reservations following your availabilities
If the user profile suits you, give your blessing: your guest will receive a confirmation message and some of your personal details such as your exact address.
We ask to our hosts to answer under 24 hours, passed this, the request for a reservation will be canceled.
In order to make a reservation, people have to be signed-in on our website and therefore have an account where we can find their personal details and a picture. Like you, they can talk about themselves in their personal description, their hobbies etc…
If those fields are empty, don’t hesitate to talk with them via private message and ask questions.
You can also look if they have already live a Homemeal experience yet and if some other users have left comments.
Obviously, you are the one choosing who you are going to receive over and when. Nevertheless, we encourage you to justify to the user why you will not be able to receive him or her.
Some unexpected events can oblige you to cancel the meals you have planned up. Once you are connected on Homemeal, you will only have to go in the “Host” section, then “My publications” and delete the publication of your choice.
Be aware that we reserve to ourselves the right to delete your account if you cancel more than 3 meals in a row.
With Homemeal, you can communicate with your guests via private messages and start to know each other.
On the other hand, you cannot communicate personal details, those will be automatically transmitted to the guest after his or her reservation has been confirmed.
As a host, you fix freely the price that you want to get out of your meal, this one will be justified by the price of the goods you used, the work you have put in the preparation of the meal…
On the top of this, Homemeal adds up a 15% commission fee, and the guest will take that in charge.
As a Homemeal host, your activity is considered by the law as “co-cooking”.
In France, revenues coming from those kind of activities are not to be declared.
In order to get more information on this topic, here is the law amendment of the Ministry of Finance and Economy.
Homemeal is before anything else a human aventure, being thirsty of discovery, meeting new people and sharing! Therefore, Homemeal experiences are more to be considered as a meal between friends and not a commercial activity.
Therefore, when you organise events at your place, they are to be considered as being part of private order, meaning that you casually do it and this not your principal activity of business.
You have to apply the legislation of your country. In France, revenues from activities of “co-cooking” are not to be declared and you do not pay taxes over those.
If you are a professional, you have to go with the law and conform yourself with what the applicable law in your country or state requires.
Once the meal is over, participants receive an email offering to leave a comment. Thus you can share your opinion with other Homemeal users and allow them to know more about the meal.
Leaving a comment makes our website more trustable and adds value to the experience. It is also important for us to know how your meal went so we can act upon if there has been any troubles.
If you have any other question or comment about this topic, please send us a mail on the contact form or write us an email at contact@homemeal.com. We will answer you on a short notice.
